NEW DELHI, Feb 25: “Mind your own business,” is Indian fast bowler Irfan Pathan’s unequivocal message to critics. He was put under scanner after his ‘below-par’ show in first two cricket Tests of recent Pakistan tour and questions were raised on everything from his grip to attitude.

Pathan hit back in Karachi Test and made a history by taking a sensational first-over hat trick and backed it up with good show in ODIs.

“It is very easy to comment while sitting out but there should be a limit to every thing. People (former players) forget their own past (performances) and start commenting, more so when they are facing the camera,” Pathan said in an interview.

He made it clear that no amount of criticism could affect his performance.

“There would always be criticism from fans and other quarters but that doesn’t bother me. What matters to me is team, selectors and team management. They are always there for me. I take their advice whenever I face any difficulties,” he said.

On upcoming series against England, Irfan said, “I had not played much against them, especially Test cricket but they are well acquainted to swing bowling. It will not be an easy task, ground reality will be known only when we face them in field.”

He said bowling was his first love. “Bowling is my first priority but if needed, I will also try to bat to best of my abilities. I try my level best to fulfil my team’s expectations as a batsman as well.”—Agencies
