The Israeli army has announced a four-hour suspension of military strikes in an area in central Gaza, purportedly to allow the safe passage of humanitarian supplies, Al Jazeera reports.

Avichay Adraee, the military’s spokesman for Arabic media, announced in a post on X that there will be a “local and temporary tactical suspension of military activities for humanitarian purposes in the southeast of Deir el-Balah” that will last until 2pm local time (12:00 GMT).

He also said the corridor on Salah al-Din road, designated for the passage of people and goods, has been closed and moved to al-Rashid (al-Bahr) road.

According to Adraee, the new corridor will be open to movement from the north to the south of Gaza between 9am and 4pm.
