AWAITING THE DECISION: The Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) had invited applica- tions from the general public and overseas Pakistanis in September 2023 for residential plots in sectors G-12 and F-12 of Islamabad. The processing fee, ranging from Rs5,000 to Rs20,000 against various plots of land, was collected by the authority. Moreover, it promised to hold a ballot for plot allocation within two weeks, but the ballot has not taken place even though many months have passed. The FGEHA should update the applicants about the reason behind the delay, and about what lies ahead.

MOTORWAY OF NEGLECT: I often travel using the M3 Motorway between Lahore and Multan. The motorway has generally been a great relief for the people, but it has now developed rather irritating bumps and potholes as one approaches the underpass. These are seriously dangerous as they are encoun- tered suddenly by fast-moving vehicles. The relevant authorities should initiate repair work without any further delay.

FACING CLIMATE CHANGE: In the face of the increasingly negative impact of climate change, countries across the globe have come up with effective measures to counter the challenges. For instance, Indonesia has enacted a law that makes it mandatory for a couple to plant a tree as they tie the knot. This way, the country has decided to encounter the climate change impacts. Pakistan can learn from the experience of such countries and initiate its own plans to face the menace.

PERCEIVED SUPPORT: This refers to the article ‘Polls and beyond’ (Dec 17). If one party is still popular, why have its key members already left it? Why are all those thousands of its perceived supporters preferring to enjoy the comfort of their homes instead of attending its rallies?
