Lebanon’s Hezbollah group said it fired more than 60 rockets at an Israeli military base in response to the killing of Hamas’s deputy leader in Beirut, Al Jazeera reports.

The Israeli army says confirmed the heavy fire that targeted northern Israel. The military said it responded by striking a “terrorist cell” that took part in the launches.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah have been trading fire since the war in Gaza started in October last year. The violence has largely been contained to the border area.
