ISLAMABAD: Three shops were completely burnt while a few other shops were also damaged in a fire that erupted at Aabpara Market here on Wednesday, the police and rescue department said.

Fortunately, no injuries or loss of life were reported in the incident, they added.

Smoke emerged out of a shop and caught the attention of the people present in the market, they said, adding that later they informed the fire department and police.

The fire department and police got the information about the fire at around 9am and immediately rushed to the spot where the smoke was visibly rising from the market and the fire was spreading quickly to adjacent shops of garments and shoes.

The shops and the adjacent areas were evacuated immediately for rescue work to avoid further damage, they said, adding that the shopkeepers also participated in the rescue work, and later the fire was extinguished after hours of effort.

However, three shops were completely burned, while a few other shops were also damaged in the incident. The police said that the fire erupted in a shoe shop due to a short circuit.
