LAHORE: Police in a crackdown on New Year’s night, arrested 162 suspects involved in one-wheelie, aerial firing and rioting.
A total of 137 cases were registered, leading to the arrest of 42 suspects for one-wheelie and 49 for aerial firing. In addition, 12 suspects were held for involvement in fireworks, with nine cases registered.
The police also made significant strides in the fight against drugs, registering 49 cases, detaining 58 suspects, and seizing over 28 kg of hashish and 768 litres of alcohol. During the blockade, 5,337 motorcyclists were checked, and 72 bikes belonging to individuals who failed to identify themselves, were impounded.
Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana highlighted the foolproof security arrangements that provided security to citizens and families visiting parks, recreational centres and public spaces.
