GUJRANWALA, Feb 2: A dozen members of an anti-car lifting squad of Lahore was caught red-handed taking bribe from vehicle owners near Chand Da Qila By-pass in a raid by the Gujranwala SSP here late Friday night.

The squad headed by an ASI was sent to jail.

They were however released on the request of Lahore SSP Aslam Tarin after censuring them and recommending stern action against them on Saturday morning.

On a tip-off, Gujranwala SSP Aslam Tarin conducted the raid and found the squad extorting illegal gratification from vehicle owners in plainclothes at a picket on the GT Road.

They stopped four-wheelers and allegedly humiliated their occupants on refusing to give the gratification.

HOUSE LOOTED: Outlaws looted the house of an expatriate and also took away a motorcycle in two strikes here on Saturday.

Three dacoits barged into Riaz Khan’s house in Dhulley, held the inmates hostage and locked them in a room. The intruders scooped Rs100,000 in cash, 3,500 dollars, 15 tolas of gold, other valuables and escaped with the booty.

Two armed robbers deprived Muhammad Irfan of his motorcycle in Satellite Town. He was on his way home from the market.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.

KILLED: An innocent man was killed while three others suffered injuries on Saturday in a clash between two rival groups over a domestic issue in Minhais village, Kamoke.

Muhammad Ramzan’s wife had come to her parents’ after quarrelling with her husband a few days ago. On Saturday, Ramzan went to his in-laws to bring back his wife, but his father-in-law and brothers-in-law manhandled him. After sometime, he came along with his companions and tried to enter his wife’s house. Ramzan opened fire on villagers who had gathered outside the house, injuring seriously a shopkeeper, Muhammad Shafqat. He died on the way to the local DHQ Hospital.

Later, villagers and inmates attacked the assailants with clubs and iron rods, injuring Ramzan, Abdul Ghani and Sher Muhammad critically. They were rushed to the local DHQ Hospital.
