The watered-down UN Security Council passed on Friday, boosting aid to Gaza, has been criticised by some as “nearly meaningless”, Al Jazeera reports.

Palestine

Palestine’s envoy to the UN, Riyad Mansour, said while the resolution was a “step in the right direction”, what was necessary was an immediate ceasefire.

Russia

Vassily Nebenzia, Russia’s UN envoy, said the US moves on the resolution had resulted in a “toothless” and “neutered” draft.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF)

“This resolution has been watered down to the point that its impact on the lives of civilians in Gaza will be nearly meaningless,” MSF-USA Executive Director Avril Benoit said in a statement.
