Iran’s paramilitary forces are providing Houthi rebels with weapons, including drones and missiles, and “real-time intelligence” to target commercial vessels in the Red Sea, Al Jazeera reports.

Quoting a report from The Wall Street Journal, the AJ said the officials are claiming that an Iranian-controlled Red Sea surveillance vessel is sending tracking information to the Houthis to use in their attacks on ships in the Bab al-Mandeb strait.

However, a Houthis spokesperson told the news outlet that Iran’s help was not needed.

“It’s strange to attribute everything to Iran as if it were the world’s strongest power,” the spokesperson said. “We have intelligence facilities that have proven themselves over the years of aggression against us.”
