Jagan Chapagain, secretary general and CEO of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, has described the situation in Gaza as “desperate”.

“I reiterate my call for a safe & unhindered humanitarian space to allow the continuous flow of critical aid,” Chapagain said in a post on X.

He added that aid delivery is becoming “increasingly more difficult” amid ongoing shelling and a lack of fuel supplies.

“The need for an urgent de-escalation has never been greater,” he said.
