LAKKI MARWAT: Traders and political and social activists on Saturday threatened to launch agitation against the government decision to close down the branch of National Bank of Pakistan located at the bus terminal in Lakki Marwat.

Talking to reporters, they said that the decision regarding closure of the NBP branch was taken by the quarters concerned unilaterally without consulting all the stakeholders, especially bank customers and business community.

Traders Adeel Khan, Inayatullah and Ismail termed the branch closure a conspiracy and said that they would make sincere efforts to foil the bid at all costs.

They said that the bank management had published advertisements in newspapers, informing customers that the NBP branch at the bus terminal had been merged into the main branch.

“The closure of bank branch will add to the troubles of shopkeepers and other costumers,” they maintained.

Ihsanullah and Din Mohammad of PPP said that the main branch was located in the congested bazaar in the urban locality. “The main branch is out of the easy access of traders dealing in different businesses on the bus terminal,” they claimed.
