There’s nothing that protects journalists across the Gaza Strip, says Al Jazeera journalist Hani Mahmoud.

More and more journalists documenting the atrocities of Israeli crimes and this genocidal war in the Gaza Strip are being targeted — either directly or their families — just to inflict so much pain on them that it prevents them from continuing.

There’s no way around bullets, there’s no way around the bombs. This is the ugly truth of what’s happening, to the point where you feel that all of this is pointless.

But some things need to be documented. The story of Gaza and its people needs to be told to the world, and that’s probably the biggest motivator for the journalist community in Gaza, despite the imminent threat to their lives. Not just them but their family members as well.
