Al Jazeera reports that Israeli police have suspended from “operational activity” two soldiers who brutally assaulted a Palestinian photojournalist working for Anadolu Agency, citing Israeli media Channel 12.

Mustafa Alkharouf was covering Friday prayers near the al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem when two Israeli Border Police officers attacked him.

They punched him, threw him on the ground, and severely kicked him on his head. The journalist had to be hospitalised.

The suspension will be effective until “details of the incident were examined,” according to the report.
