WASHINGTON, Feb 21: There is a ‘clear convergence’ of interests between the United States and India on the nuclear issue and that’s why they would be able to sort out their differences over the nuclear deal, Ronen Sen, the Indian ambassador to the US, said on Tuesday.

Washington and New Delhi have developed differences over the separation of civilian and military nuclear facilities, as required under the July 18 nuclear agreement.

But Mr Sen told a news conference in Washington he was confident the two countries would overcome these differences and keep their reciprocal commitments under the agreement.

The ambassador said India would not compromise on its strategic interests while concluding the nuclear deal.

He said US Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns would hold talks in New Delhi on Thursday .
