Shelter partners were only able to cover less than 10 per cent of the overall shelter/non-food item needs of the people in Gaza Strip, the UN’s humanitarian office has said.

In an update as of Dec 6, it stated: “Due to limited supplies, shelter partners were only able to cover less than 10 per cent of the overall shelter/NFI needs.”

“There is still a major gap in shelter winterisation materials and essential NFIs,” it highlighted.

It said it had distributed the following to displaced people:

  • 16,500 winter clothing kits
  • 3,800 kitchen kits
  • 7,500 blankets and mattresses
  • 4,400 washing kits
  • 300 sealing-off kits for winterisation
