The UN agency for Palestinian refugees has said that at least 19 of its staff members were killed during Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip as of Dec 3, taking the total number of UNRWA colleagues killed since Oct 7 to 130.
In a daily situation report, it said UNRWA schools in Deir Al Balah and Khan Younis, where thousands of Palestinians take refuge, have been targeted in renewed Israeli bombing.
“120 incidents impacting UNRWA facilities have been confirmed since the beginning of the war. 30 installations have sustained direct hits and 55 have sustained collateral damage. UNRWA has also received reports of the military use of its facilities on at least five incidents,” it said.
“We are also in danger as we walk. Our lives are at a standstill. […] There is the smell of death here. But we’re determined to live,” the report quoted a UNRWA counselor as saying.
