LAHORE: Lahore Development Authority’s (LDA) Town Planning wing and the Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (Tepa) on Friday conducted a joint operation against violation of parking rules in commercial buildings on Jail Road.

During the operation, the officials removed temporary and permanent encroachments from various commercial plazas on the Jail Road.

Lahore Commissioner and LDA Director General Muhammad Ali Randhawa ordered the operation against the encroachment of the parking areas on Jail Road because of non-allocation of parking spaces in commercial buildings.

The joint teams of LDA and Tepa demolished a gate built on the ramp of Landmark Plaza, besides illegal partition in the parking area.

The teams sealed the High Que Tower office for violation of parking rules. A cafe and office in the basement of a private medical lab were also sealed, besides demolition of a ramp and a gate blocking the road.

Similarly, a temporary structure and canopies installed in the seating area of Gulberg Galleria and a private café were also removed during the operation.

Prior to the operation, several notices for taking corrective measures were served on the managements of these properties.

The operation was supervised by Tepa’s parking and enforcement director, LDA’s town planning wing director, LDA’s state management private housing schemes director.

On the commissioner’s directions, LDA, Tepa and MCL are conducting joint operations against encroachments in commercial buildings without parking area across the city.
