Germany’s foreign ministry says the international community must do everything in its power to ensure the continuation of the temporary truce in Gaza, Al Jazeera reports.

Working to ensure that Hamas does not pose a threat to Israel’s existence and it is disarmed is necessary to end the suffering of Palestinians and Israelis, it also said on X.

The statement added: “Of course, that would also mean that Hamas would have to lay down its weapons. Only in this way a political horizon can open up for a two-state solution that can provide security for both Israelis and Palestinians.”
