KARACHI, Feb 18: A superb century by skipper Hasan Raza inspired Habib Bank to a comfortable 37-run victory over Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) in the second semifinal of the Patron’s Cup one-day cricket tournament on Saturday.

Hasan, the Pakistan Test batsman, hammered a 92-ball 105 with the aid of 11 boundaries and one six while adding 104 for the fifth-wicket with Farhan Adil (43 off 42 balls with three fours).

Helped by useful contributions from Taufiq Umar (44 off 56 balls, seven fours), Humayun Farhat (34 off 24, five fours and one six), Riffatullah Mohmand (44 off 76, one four), Habib Bank eventually reached 285 for seven in 50 overs.

ZTBL responded nervously to start with and lost half the side for 149 by the 27th over after paceman Fahad Masood took three early wickets.

ZTBL were all for 245 in 45 overs with Faisal Naved (62 of 97 balls, five fours) and Atif Ashraf (an unbeaten 59 off 45 balls, six fours and two sixes) the chief scorers.
