BAHAWALPUR: A married woman was allegedly raped by a man in her hut near Jalalpur Morewala at Lodhran city late on Saturday, the police said.

According to the police, the nomad family residing in their hut within the limits of Lodhran city police station reported the rape incident.

The suspect entered the hut, raped the 21-year-old woman while she was sleeping with her mother-in-law.

The survivor’s mother filed a complaint, leading to the registration of the first information report No 2512/23 under section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Gypsy family members woke up on the victim’s screams, and the suspect managed to flee. The police claim to have arrested the suspect.

In another case, Hasilpur police recovered a minor kidnapped girl who had been missing for about 12 days.

Iqra, a school student, was kidnapped, and her parents reported the abduction to the Hasilpur Sadar police under FIR No 774/23 under section 365 of the PPC.

The police claim to have arrested Ali Raza, Riaz, Nadeem, and Maryam in connection with the case.

crackdown: A crackdown on the black-marketing of fertilizer took place in Khanqah Sharif, where City Assistant Commissioner Adeel Khan recovered 150 hoarded bags of fertilizer.

An FIR was registered against the dealer involved in black-marketing, and the seized fertilizer was sold to locals at controlled rates.

GANG: The Sahooka police in Vehari district dismantled a three-member burglars’ gang and arrested its members – Arsalan, alias Arsalani Baloch, Asad Khokhar, and Shair Zaman Bhatti. Valuables worth Rs4.7 million were recovered from the gang, including gold jewelry, motorcycles, and illicit arms.

The recovered articles were returned to their rightful owners.

Also, the city Vehari police arrested two drug traffickers, Mehrban Ali and Arshad alias Kali Gujjar, recovering over 22 kilograms of narcotics from their possession.
