FIA arrests seven human smugglers

GUJRANWALA, Feb 17: Seven human smugglers were arrested by the FIA passport cell in raids and recovered fake passports, stamps and other documents from their possession here on Friday.

Reports said that FIA deputy director Muhammad Naeem Akram Bharoka received information that the accused, who had extorted a huge amount of money from youths for sending them abroad, were present at their residences at Pasrur and Sialkot. At this, he constituted two separate raiding teams who arrested them after brief encounters. Those arrested were identified as Saeed, Ashiq, Zaheer, Arshad Javed, Haider Imran, Arshed Othianwala and Shaukat Burajwala.

A case has been registered against the accused.

BAILED OUT: The Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 on Friday bailed out an accused involved in kidnapping of a minor boy for ransom and later killing him.

Reports said that accused Shafi had been arrested for his involvement in kidnapping Hamza (7) from Naushera Road and later killing him some one month back.

INJURED: An industrialist and two passersby were shot at and injured by bandits on resistance during a robbery bid on Mian Sansi Road here on Friday.

Industrialist Jawad Ahmad was on way to his factory after withdrawing Rs255,000 from a bank when four outlaws snatched a bag containing the cash. For offering resistance, the bandits opened fire which resulted in injuries to trader and passersby Imran and Abdul Rehman.
