LAKKI MARWAT: Additional checkpoints have been established in Bannu district to maintain law and order and ensure safety of roads and highways, according to a police official.

He told this scribe on Thursday that additional checkposts were established on the directives of the regional police officer, Qasim Ali Khan.

He said that along with police personnel, the commandos of quick response force (QRF) were deployed at the temporary checkpoints to keep an eye on suspicious activities and individuals.

The official said that the move would help to bring outlaws, drug traffickers, illegal weapon carriers and owners of unregistered motorcycles and vehicles of tinted glasses into clutches of law.

He said that the establishment of checkpoints would also prove helpful to keep the district safe and crime-free.

Meanwhile, RPO Qasim Ali Khan visited Lakki Marwat on Thursday to review the performance of the district police and law and order.

DPO Tariq Habib along with SP Murad Khan received him at the police lines in district headquarters complex Tajazai.

Later, the RPO met the district police authorities and discussed with them the overall law and order and action taken against miscreants and criminals.

At the meeting, he issued special instructions with regard to improving liaison with people, making the environment of police stations people-friendly and seeking support from elders to maintain peace in their respective areas.
