SHANGLA: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf senior vice president and former provincial minister Shaukat Yousafzai has been nominated in the same case registered two days ago against his younger brother and district president of aprty Liaquat Yousafzai and six others.

Liaquat and six others were released on bail by the civil judge on Thursday.

Shaukat Yousafzai was nominated in the case on Thursday under section 109 in which four other sections 506, 187, 188 and 147 were added by Karora police station. The case was initially registered against Liaquat, Ikram Shah, Mohammad Arif and others for holding a meeting of party despite ban.

The former minister told Dawn that he was in Peshawar when PTI held a meeting in Shangla. “I have never been involved in violence, nor have spoken against state institutions but Shangla administration has become a party. I have always adhered to Constitution and law. I have served as human rights, information, labour and parliamentary affairs minister during the past nine-year government of PTI,” he added.

He said that he criticised those, who were allegedly involved in the May 9 riots, and opposed violence and even attempted to stop them from targeting the state properties in which he was injured and his clothes were torn.

He said that he would remain peaceful as usual and face the cases being lodged against him illegally in Shangla and Peshawar.

Mr Yousafzai was offloaded from a flight when he was trying to fly to Saudi Arabia for performing Umrah. He was detained for more than two hours at the airport.

SEMINAR: Police investigation officers have been asked to enhance their skills and use modern techniques in performing their duty.

The district police officer, Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada, the senior superintendent of police, Mohammad Zaman, DSP Jehanzeb and others addressed officers of investigation wing at a seminar in Alpuri on Thursday.

They said that police officials must consider themselves public servant and deal every applicant politely. They urged them to avoid such behavior, which could defame police department.
