THATTA, Feb 16: A landlord has filed an application with the district and sessions judge requesting him to order registration of an FIR against forest and police officials who allegedly destroyed his crops on 123 acres of land.

The complainant, Ahmad Khan alias Haji Nahiyoon, resident of Deh Juna-1, Thatta taluka, alleged that divisional forest officer Mohammad Sadiq Mughal, range forest officer Suleman Khaskheli, forest warden Abdul Rehman Khushik, SHO Javedur Rehman Lakhair, ASIs Noor Hussain Khushik and Munir Memon, head constable Hussain Ranto and 16 other forest and police officials had come to his agricultural lands in police mobiles with tractors and ploughing equipment on Jan 12 and again on Jan 20, tortured his peasants and managerial staff and destroyed ripe tomatoes, chillies, watermelons and bananas worth Rs12.624 million.

He said he had repeatedly approached the Thatta police for lodging a case but the SHO had always refused, saying they had acted on orders of DIGP Ali Akbar Bhangwar.

He prayed the court to direct higher authorities to register his case.

The court fixed the matter for Feb 23.
