LAHORE, Feb 16: Recommendations have been made regarding necessary terms and conditions for renting out thousands of acres of state land in Punjab through open auction for a period of three years.

This was announced by colonies minister Manazar Ali Ranjha while presiding over a meeting on Thursday. Board of Revenue member (colonies) Tariq Yousuf, secretary Mushtaq Anjum, director (monitoring) Ghulam Farid Langrial and other officers attended the meeting.

The minister ordered some amendments in the terms and conditions so that the government land could be protected.

According to the terms and conditions, the successful bidder will deposit in advance one-year rent and he will not be given ownership right at any cost. Students and children of employees of federal and provincial governments, autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous bodies and corporations would not be eligible for getting land on rent.

The rent holder will not be allowed to sublet the land to any other party or person or to mortgage it with any bank or financial institution. And the decision of the BoR will be final in case of any dispute arising in respect of the rented land which will not exceed 12.5 acres.

The meeting also reviewed various aspects of the sale of land on a permanent basis.

He ordered finalisation of the recommendations at the earliest. — Staff Reporter
