Philippe Lazzarini, the commissioner-general of the United Nations’ relief agency in Palestine, met World Health Organisation chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and discussed the humanitarian crisis facing the people of Gaza.

They spoke “about [the] lack of protection to medical facilities, risk of diseases and the humanitarian crisis among [the] people in Gaza stripped of dignity overnight”, Lazzarini wrote on X.

“We call for a ceasefire and we are committed to deliver assistance to Palestinians in need wherever they are,” he added.
