Bus accident leaves 30 hurt

GUJRANWALA, Feb 15: Over 30 people were injured after a bus overturned while saving a wagon on the GT Road near Amritpura Cantonment on Wednesday.

Reports said the bus was going to Lahore from Gujrat when it met with an accident. As a result, almost all bus passengers, including women and children, sustained injuries. The driver and conductor were also among the injured. They were rushed to the local DHQ Hospital where the condition of Muzzamil Ahmad and Irfan Ahmad was stated to be serious.

Police have registered a case against the bus crew.

BYELECTION: By-election on nazim seat of Naushera Virkan union council No 188 will be held on March 11.

While the returning officer accepted nomination papers of two aspirants Tariq Mahmood Cheema and Mansha Bath on Wednesday.

The scrutiny of nomination paper will be conducted on Thursday (today) in the presence of both the candidates.

It may be mentioned that this seat was vacant by town nazim Azhar Qayyum Nahara.

RECRUITMENT: The last date for submitting application forms for recruitment of traffic police officers in Gujranwala has been extended till Feb 18 by DIG (Traffic) Muhammad Altaf Qamar.

This was stated by an official handout issued here on Wednesday.

According to the DIG, the merit would be the only criterion for recruitments as no recommendation would be entertained.
