Afghan police seize 250kg of heroin

KANDAHAR, Feb 15: Police seized more than 250 kilograms of heroin packed into a fuel tanker and arrested one carrier on Wednesday, a police official said.

Police chief Mohammad Nabi Mullahkhil said that on a tip-off a fuel tanker, driven by a young man, was stopped in the southern Zabul province when it was heading to Kandahar.

Police arrested the driver, but believed that the ‘actual smuggler’, the truck owner, escaped.—AFP
