Avi Mizrahi, former head of the Israeli army’s Central Command, has warned against any concessions before the goals of Israel’s bombing in Gaza are reached, Al Jazeera reports.

“I don’t think this is the time to offer anything to the Palestinians or to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank,” Mizrahi said during an online news conference. “We have first to achieve the war goals that the government put on us to win the war in Gaza and to kick out all Hamas leaders,” he added.

Mizrahi’s comments come amid increasing pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree on a ceasefire to allow some relief to civilians in Gaza and secure time for negotiations on captives. But so far he has shown no appetite for a consistent halt in hostilities.
