The United Nations’ relief agency has said that people in its shelter facilities are living in “increasingly overcrowded conditions: on average, every toilet is shared by 160 people, and every shower unit by 700 people”.
It has opened two additional shelters in Gaza and is now hosting 582,000 IDPs in 92 facilities south of Wadi Gaza, it said in an update.
“The worsening sanitary conditions, along with the lack of privacy and space, generate health and safety hazards.”
