Israel says the photojournalism and “early morning presence” of the Associated Press and Reuters on October 7 raises “serious ethical questions.

A statement from Israel’s official account on X (formally Twitter) references an article by HonestReporting, a news outlet which “exposes anti-Israel media bias”.

The statement implies that freelance journalists working for AP and Reuters from Gaza may have known of the October 7 attack by Hamas beforehand.

The statement read: “Did these ‘journalists’ know about the impending Hamas attack and fail to warn relevant parties? The details of this discovery are still unfolding, but one thing is clear. This is a serious violation of journalistic ethics.”
