KARACHI, Feb 13: A woman and a young man were shot dead by unknown suspects in Lyari on Monday night. TPO Lyari Omar Shahid said Rahid, 22, was intercepted by bandits at Maula Madad Chowk. They demanded cash, and opened fire on him when he offered resistance. Gulzar Bibi, 50, a passer-by who was also hit by a bullet, died on the spot while Rashid died at the hospital during treatment.

Following the incident, tension griped the area, and police started search for the suspects. In another incident, a man was injured during a motorcycle snatching attempt in Site Monday.

Ramash was passing thorough SITE area when unknown persons intercepted him and demanded his motorcycle at gunpoint. On resistance, they shot him and fled from the spot.

TWO KILLED: Two women were killed in separate incidents in different parts of the city on Monday. Police said the body of a 60-year-old woman, identified as Habiba Khatoon, was recovered from her apartment in Al Karam Square, Liaquatabad. Police said the victim was strangled. She was alone when unknown persons barged into the house.

Police were not clear about the motive of the killing and said they were investigating the case. However, they did not rule out an attempt of dacoity. In the other incident, the body of a young woman was found on a garbage dump in Orangi Town on Monday.

Police said the badly charred corpse was found on the dump in Iqbal Baloch Colony, Orangi Town.
