KARACHI: The tortured body of a teenage girl was found in her Korangi home and an autopsy found that she was sexually assaulted before being murdered, police said on Tuesday.

An Edhi Foundation spokesperson said that the body of a 13-year-old girl was found in a house in Sector-34/2, Korangi 2 ½ on Monday evening. He said that there were visible signs of torture on the face.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.

Police Surgeon Summaiya Syed told Dawn that the autopsy findings were suggestive of rape and physical violence. However, doctors reserved the exact cause of death till receipts of chemical examination reports.

A Korangi police officer said that her family claimed that she was seriously ill and her lungs and liver were damaged.

They also believed that she was possessed by some supernatural beings and they were getting treatment from faith healers. The officer said the police were further investigating the case.
