SWABI: Speakers at a literary event has termed a newly-published poetry book a good addition to Pashto literature and lauded the poet for blending imagination with realities.

The event was organised by International Pashto Society (IPS) to launch the second poetry book of Anwar Manerwal.

Speakers said that the poet observed keenly his society and nature. They said that imagery and reality went side by side in poetry without disturbing the beauty of his verses. They said that he enjoyed respect in the society for guiding people and promoting virtues through his writings.

Anwar Manerwal’s new book titled ‘Yo Arman’ comprises 226 pages. The book contains every genre of poetry including Ghazal, Sandara, Tappa and others. He calls for a positive change in the society.

Afrasiab Khattak, a known literary and political figure, said on the occasion that the poet observed nature and society keenly with his creative vision. He said that Anwar wanted to promote peace through his poetry.

“There is a lot of power in Pashto Tappa. I am happy that Anwar has also written Tappa in his book,” he said. He also spoke in detail about various aspects of Pashto literature and numerous critical periods and paid tribute to Khushal Khan Khattak and Rehman Baba.

Noorul Amin Yousafzai, another noted writer, said that Anwar Manerwal carved out a unique poetic path for himself. “It is his unique way of portraying the atmosphere that compels people to use his various verses as quotations,” he added.

“He studies nature deeply and incorporates it into the colour of his poetry with his deep feelings in such a way that people are forced to read and follow him,” he said.

Aziz Manerwal, a popular poet said, that Anwar interpreted people’s feelings in a unique way that left them deeply moved. That was the reason that people extended him great respect, welcomed him everywhere and considered him an intellectual, he added.

“His wealth of wisdom will continue to inspire and educate the present and future generations of Pakhtuns. His professional competence, maturity and poetic approach to cope with problems and emerge victorious are remarkable,” he said.

Jehan Badar, a famous jirga member, said that Anwar was in fact a peace monger, which was a prerequisite for a happy life. Mohammed Abid Khan, president of IPS, said that Anwar was an academic poet.

Various other poets, leading literary figures and intellectuals also spoke on the occasion.
