ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar will chair an important meeting of the federal cabinet today (Monday) in which some significant decisions are likely to be taken in light of the recommendations of the Economic Coordination Committee.

As the deadline of repatriation of undocumented, illegal foreigners in Pakistan is expiring on Oct 31, the cabinet will also be informed about the results of ongoing operations against illegal or unregistered immigrants and unlawful economic activities, like smuggling, hoarding and the US dollar’s flight.

The cabinet will also be apprised about the agenda of negotiations with International Monetary Fund (IMF) officials in November.

The caretaker government is expected to increase gas tariff further. It has also been learnt that some decisions will also be taken to make some relaxation in Public Procurement Regulatory Authority rules to help import Liquefied Natural Gas to meet the industrial demand in winter season.

“The meeting will also validate the ECC decision on the recent surge in the gas tariff and review the progress regarding return of illegal immigrant in the country,” a source in the Prime Minister Office (PMO) told Dawn on Sunday.

Besides, law and order will also be reviewed in the backdrop of upcoming general elections.
