ISLAMABAD: A student of Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) was allegedly abducted and six others were injured during a clash between two groups inside the premises of the university on Thursday night.
As per sources, the students belonging to two different ethnic groups carrying sticks attacked another group of students who were taking a Quran class inside the university’s mosque.
A renowned cricketer, who had led the national team, had been invited for the class that had been organised by the student wing of a religio-political party. The ex-cricketer, however, remained unhurt in the incident.
Upon getting the information, a police contingent reached the university and defused the tense situation.
Later, a case was registered in response to a complaint lodged by Mohammad Musa, an injured student. According to the complaint, the students of two different ethnic groups attacked the gathering in the mosque and started punching them and hitting them with sticks.
As a result, six students sustained injuries. The complainant alleged that the attackers had also abducted one of the students whose whereabouts were still unknown.
The complainant has nominated 11 persons and some unidentified people in the FIR.
