Dr Ghassan Abu Sitta, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon in Gaza, has slammed US President Joe Biden for doubting whether the official number of Palestinians killed by Israeli strikes was accurate.

Speaking to CNN, he said, “I think President Biden is basically telling the Israelis that they haven’t killed enough Palestinians yet and that there is more room […].”

“I’m trying to figure out what is the quota of Palestinian blood that the American administration wants for it to force these Israelis into a ceasefire.”

The surgeon termed it a “catastrophe” that “foreigners are prevented by the Israelis from coming in [to Gaza] to see the bodies that are piled up in the morgues”.

He recalled being able to smell the “stench of dead and decaying bodies” while he driving past buildings that had been struck by airstrikes.
