BAHAWALPUR: The district police seized a consignment of over four maunds of narcotics from two traffickers within the jurisdiction of Abbasnagar police station.
District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Muhammad Abbas told a press conference at the district police lines on Thursday that based on a tip-off, police teams from Abbasnagar, along with other officials, conducted raids and recovered 27 kilo charas and 129 kilo opium from Muhammad Sajid and Roshan Zameer.
The DPO said creating a narcotics-free Bahawalpur district was his priority. He said that investigations were ongoing to uncover the network and arrest their remaining accomplices in order to eliminate narcotics from the district.
AWARD: Punjab Secretary and Director-General for the Provincial Emergency Service Department Dr Rizwan Naseer honoured Bahawalpur District Emergency Officer Baqir Hussain with the best district office award for outstanding performance in the entire Punjab region.
This recognition pertains to his performance during relief and rescue operations over the past three months in a flood situation, in collaboration with the district administration in Bahawalpur.
In the anti-flood operations, no human casualties were reported in the affected areas of Bahawalpur district. These efforts included the evacuation of as many as 142,000 affected people from their homes in the district in June and July.
