Comsats University Rector Prof Sajid Qamar awards degree to a student during the convocation held in Abbottabad on Monday. — Dawn

ABBOTTABAD: The 22nd and 30th convocation at Comsats University, Abbottabad campus, was held here on Monday, in which 1,357 students were awarded MS and BS degrees.

During the event, 27 students were also awarded PhD degrees and 47 students were awarded medals for high performance.

Due to high number of students and inclement weather, the convocation was divided into two parts.

The ceremony of half of the students was held in the morning while the functionfor the other half was held at the university auditorium in the evening.

Prof Sajid Qamar, rector Comsats Abbottabad, and Professor Dr Mohammad Maroof Shah awarded degrees to the successful students.

As many as 47 position holders were awarded gold, bronze and silver medals, while 27 PhD scholars were awarded degrees. Also, 63 Afghan students received medals and degrees during the convocation.

Earlier, campus director Dr Maroof Shah while presenting a report said that currently 226 PhD holders are performing their duties in different departments. He said 423 research papers were published in renowned journals of the world last year.
