Quack held for ‘killing’ baby

SAHIWAL, Feb 10: A DHQ Hospital employee was arrested for allegedly conducting a delivery operation that resulted in the death of a baby in his ‘clinic’ at Adda Gamber near Okara Cantonment.

Accused Abdul Razzaq, working in the neuro surgery operation theatre, had also buried the baby later in the compound of his clinic.

The police said the accused was running his clinic with the name of Asaama as a qualified doctor. For a delivery case, Shamim of Chak 47/5-L had been brought to the clinic by her relatives. The accused, with the help of a female nurse, carried out the operation, but the baby died due to mishandling.

Shabhor police also recovered the body and started investigation.

LOOTED: Five armed robbers deprived a man and his friend of their motorcycle, Rs15,000 in cash and cell phones on Sahiwal-Pakpattan Road here on Friday.

Shahadat Ali and Alam Sher were going to Chak 98/9-L by their motorcycle (SLK-7133) when armed bandits intercepted them.

Yousafwala police have registered a case.

ZULJINNAH: At least 12 zuljinnah processions taken out from different places here were merged into the main procession brought out from Imambargah Qasar-i-Batool.

TWO COMMIT SUICIDE: Two girls on Friday committed suicide after their engagements were broken in different parts of the district.

Nasreen (18) of Sharif Colony was engaged with Iqbal. But Iqbal’s father and relatives broke the engagement. In dejection, she took poisonous pills and died in hospital.

Mafia (16) of Arazi Mehdi village ended her life after taking poison when her father Siraj broke the engagement.
