CHITRAL: A young man from Charun village of Upper Chitral has donated a large piece of land for the construction of a sports complex in his village.

Free of cost land was a prerequisite set by the sports department for establishing such a facility.

Confirming it to Dawn, national football star Mohammad Rasool said that he had informed the district administration about his decision of donating land for a sports complex in the area.

He said the sports facility would not only benefit his own village but it will be the first of its kind in the newly-established district of Upper Chitral. Youth from the nearby villages of Booni, Awi, Kuragh, Reshun, Kosht, Shogram and Zayeet would also be able to easily visit the venue daily, he added.

Mr Rasool said that he did all this because there was an intense need of it in the area as there was no proper playground available in Mastuj tehsil.

He added that the land acquisition staff of district administration had examined the donated piece of land and initiated the official process to hand it over to the sports department for starting construction activities.
