SUKKUR: Heavily armed gangsters struck a check-post in the Abad Malani area near Rustam town of Shikarpur district on Friday and kidnapped a constable, who was posted there, along with his official weapon.

A strong contingent of police was dispatched into the adjacent riverine area to rescue the constable, Abdul Jabbar Abro, and arrest the kidnappers, said Larkana DIG Javed Jiskani.

He believed that the kidnapping was aimed at putting pressure on the police to release a gangster, Sonharo Jatoi, who had been arrested in a recent action.
