Girl shot dead, mother wounded in Karachi’s Surjani Town

KARACHI: A three-year-old girl was shot dead while her mother wounded in Surjani Town on Thursday, police said.

The deceased girl was identified as Jannat Amir and her mother as Meerub Amir, 22. They were targeted in Khuda ki Basti.

The suspect, Sheikh Saud, who attacked the mother and daughter, managed to escape from the crime scene. Police said the alleged killer was a relative of the victims and attributed some personal dispute behind the incident.

Two suspects shot dead by police, citizens

Two suspected robbers were shot dead while another wounded by citizens and police jointly in an encounter in Shah Latif Town on Thursday.

Police said six robbers entered a house in Gulshan-i-Benazir. They held the owners hostage at gunpoint and looted Rs1.6 million, one laptop, one cell phone and one licensed pistol from them.

As they were fleeing after the robbery, the victims raised alarm, alerting the neighbours and area residents who chased the suspects and opened fire on them.

In the meantime, a police patrol also reached on the spot and chased the suspects. In an ensuing exchange of gunfire, two unknown suspects were gunned down and another arrested in wounded condition. Their three accomplices managed to escape.
