KARACHI, Feb 7: The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board announced on Tuesday that there would be no supply of water to certain city areas for 48 hours due to development works at the Pipri Pumping Station on Feb 10 and 11.

The KWSB release said due to the replacement of certain parts of 54 and 72 inch-dia pipelines and three pumping motors, supply of 200 million gallon water would remain suspended.

The water supply would remain suspended from 8am on Feb 10 and would be restored on Feb 12 at 8am, during which the work would also be done on K-III project of supplying additional 100Mgd water.

The areas so affected include Landhi, Korangi, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony and adjoining areas, DHA, Korangi Creek, Jinnah Terminal, National Refinery, Pakistan Refinery, Port Qasim Authority, Korangi Thermal Power, and other localities.

A KWSB spokesman said that the water supply would be fully restored on Feb 12 and advised the citizens to store water as per their requirement.

The Dhabeji and Hub Pumping Stations supply 55Mgd water to the city and the above mentioned development works would further improve the water supply, he added.—PPI
