KARACHI: The Anti-Corruption Establishment has launched a probe into complaints of corruption and irregularities at Karachi Zoological Gardens.

Official sources said that Shaikh Enterprise, a firm that had won the auction gate money collection, had filed a complaint with the anti-graft body about alleged wrongdoings and embezzlements in collection of entrance fees from visitors to Karachi Zoo.

They said that the ACE directed senior zoo officials to submit details of all income collected in the head of entrance fee and record of the gate auctions.

However, they said that the zoo authorities were unwilling to cooperate with the anti-corruption officials as they reportedly told them that an identical matter regarding collection of entrance fee was pending adjudication before the Sindh High Court; therefore the ACE could not take cognisant of a subjudice matter.
