Police seize 18,000 litres of alcohol

RAWALPINDI, Feb 6: Westridge police on Monday seized 18,000 litres of alcohol and arrested five persons during a raid on a mini-brewery set up in Chakra. District Police Officer (DPO) Saud Aziz told reporters on Monday that following an information that some people were manufacturing alcohol at a brewery in Chakra, a police party headed by SHO Westridge Azhar Hussain Shah was constituted to arrest the culprits.

The DPO showed different parts of the brewery to the media persons and said that the culprits were running the business for the last 10 months. The 18,000 litres of alcohol was packed in 48 drums. The DPO said that five persons identified as Muhammad Ayub, Shaukat Hussain, Fida Hussain, Muhammad Hasnain and Zaheer Mehmood were arrested, however, their three accomplices Munna Butt, Khurram Ali and Shahid managed to slip away during the raid.—Staff Reporter
