LAHORE: A young woman was hospitalised in a critical condition shortly after her in-laws allegedly set her on fire over some domestic issues in the Ichhra area here on Sunday.

The police claimed to have arrested husband and mother-in-law of the victim woman namely Faiza and lodged a case against them.

Quoting some initial reports, a police official said Faiza had sour relations with her in-laws due to some domestic issues.

On Sunday, he said, they first tortured Faiza and then set her on fire after throwing kerosene oil on her.

Resultantly, she suffered multiple burns and was rushed to a local hospital where her condition was stated to be critical.

Model Town Division SP Operations Ammara Sherazi said according to the statement of the victim, her mother-in-law injured her critically by setting her on fire.

She said the case was referred to the investigation wing police to initiate further criminal proceedings against the suspects.
