KARACHI, Feb 6: The district and sessions judge, South, Agha Rafique Ahmed Khan, sentenced on Monday a cellular phone snatcher to suffer rigorous imprisonment for four years.

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs20,000 on Sarfaraz and he ordered that the convict would have to undergo an additional six-month term of simple imprisonment in case he defaulted on the payment.

The accused was found guilty of having snatched the mobile phone from complainant Abdul Qadir at gunpoint in Kharadar in 2004.

GRANTED BAIL: The judicial magistrate, south, Aurangzeb Qazi, granted bail to 76 accused, including a policeman, who were arrested on Sunday by the police for watching a pornographic movie at the Reno Cenema.

The judge allowed the accused, including Sohail Hussain, Mohammad Serwer and constable Mir Asif, bail in the sum of Rs5,000 each.

REMANDED TO JAIL: The judicial magistrate, South, Khusi Mohammed, remanded an impostor to judicial custody.

Salim Qureshi was arrested a couple of days ago for posing as a drug inspector. He allegedly extorted money from different medical stores near Civil Hospital.

The police effected his arrest on the complaint of Maqsood Ahmed, owner of Data Medical Store.
