LAKKI MARWAT: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa inspector general of police Akhtar Hayat Khan inaugurated a model police station in Janikhel town of Bannu district on Friday.
Regional police officer Qasim Ali Khan, district police officer Iftikhar Shah and other police officials were also present on the occasion.
The building has modern facilities and offices for the station house officer, investigation officer and moharrar.
The IGP said the police station initiative would help improve law and order situation, eradicate crime and address people’s complaints.
He said more police stations would be established wherever the need arose, while conditions of the existing ones would be improved.
Mr Khan directed police to promote community policing and become friendly towards people for resolution of their issues.
He later chaired a meeting and asked police to increase security of religious places of minorities and protect tourists, both locals and foreigners, to promote the soft image of the country, especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and disseminate the message of peace, love and brotherhood to the world.
The RPO briefed the IGP about the law and order situation in the region and police’s action against anti-social elements and miscreants.
The IGP asked the police to set up a command and control room in Bannu police lines in light of the current law and order situation saying the CCR would help control crimes.
He also visited the houses of martyred Elite Police personnel Saif Ali and Bashir Rehman in Kalan and Sulemankhel areas, condoled with the bereaved families, and offered fateha for the fallen cops.
Accompanied by Lakki Marwat DPO Tariq Habib, the IGP met the elders and relatives of the martyred policemen and said the “supreme” sacrifices rendered by the deceased won’t go to waste.
