SWAT: A man shot dead his wife while she was on her way to court with her minor son at Banar Chowk in Mingora here on Tuesday, the police said.

The deceased, identified as Naila Bibi, had filed a suit seeking divorce from her husband, Akhtar Ali, and was going to court accompanied by her young son.

Witnesses reported that Akhtar Ali, already waiting for her at Banar Chowk, opened fire on his wife when she reached there, leaving her dead on the spot.

The heart-wrenching scene was captured by onlookers in their mobile phones and the footage was soon circulated on social media, showing the child screaming and crying beside the body of his mother.

The visuals left everyone deeply moved and stirred emotions across the city.

The police swiftly responded to the incident and arrested the assailant. They registered FIR against the accused, and began an investigation.

According to the police, the deceased woman had sought legal recourse after enduring domestic violence at the hands of her husband.
